Seguimos repasando este temazo de Rush, en concreto la 2ª parte. Esta es para mi la mejor parte de 2112: corta, intensa, y con un estribillo ideal para el directo.
"We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx"

"The Temples of Syrinx", presenta un cambio bastante directo con "Overture". La melodía instrumental de la 1ª parte, pasamos a la voz casi estridente de Geddy Lee "pegando gritos".
En este corte, nos presentan a los villanos arrogantes de la historia, los sacerdotes de los Templos de Syrinx. Ellos son caracterizados en la letra a través de su declamación soberbia: “todos los dones de la vida se encuentran dentro de nuestros muros”. Los sacerdotes rigen la Tierra y fueron ellos quienes tras la guerra unieron a las colonias humanas supervivientes bajo la Estrella Roja de la Federación Solar, y supuestamente bajo principios de igualdad y hermandad: la referencia bíblica de la obertura parece aludir a la complacencia de la humanidad bajo el gobierno de los sacerdotes y la Federación Solar.

I have always been awed by them, to think that every single facet of every life is regulated and directed from within! Our books, our music, our work and play are all looked after by the benevolent wisdom of the priests..."

Como ya comentamos en el post de la primera parte, estas dos primeras partes representan en la mayoría de conciertos la totalidad de 2112 (no se ponen a tocar los más de 20 minutos en directo). Incluso en algún que otro disco aparece la canción "Temples of Syrinx" como las 2 primeras partes de 2112.
